The Bay School is excited to announce its annual fundraising auction and gala, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, September 30. This year’s theme is “Taking Flight”, to celebrate launching into a new era of program growth after 25 successful years serving the Mathews community and beyond. The event will be held at Parson’s Point, the home of Robert and Amy Chase. Brian Marshall will cater the event with flights of refined finger foods. Music will be provided by The Tony Mata Trio.

The event will feature a live auction with travel, local experiences, and art, including the return of popular items such as a home-cooked Indian dinner and a private bourbon tasting.  A silent auction of themed collections, along with more art and exciting experiences, such as a Fantasy Basket and dune hang gliding in Nags Head, will round out the offerings. Items may be previewed online and online bidding begins September 9.

Tickets are $150 per person or $1,000 for a table of eight, and may be purchased at the Bay School or online at https://ArtTakesFlight.givesmart.com . The event is sponsored by Dominion Energy, Westville Landing, Breezeline, and other local businesses and individuals. Proceeds from the event support Bay School community art outreach programs, especially the growth of the OpenArts After School program, which expands to the Cobbs Creek Art Center this year. This program has five separate after school art sessions each week for the entire school year, and is free to participants.

The Bay School, a non-profit community art school and gallery, is located at 279 Main Street, Mathews, and is supported in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, Dominion Energy, The Mathews Community Foundation, Mathews County, and other donors and grantors.
