The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society will hold its annual Holiday Greenery Centerpiece Sale on Friday, December 12 from 12:00-4:00 PM and Saturday, December 13 from 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM at the LVHS Museum, 8346 Mary Ball Rd, Lancaster. Unique arrangements featuring assorted fresh greens and decorative accents are all handcrafted by talented LVHS volunteers, including co-chairs Lex Forrester, Rebecca Jett George, and Betty Pettyjohn, with a wealth of experience with floral designs and gardening.

According to LVHS executive director Karen Hart, there will be a variety of styles, sizes, and prices for the centerpieces and other table-top items. “This sale really makes your home decorating and gift-giving easy,” she said. “Each piece is one-of-a-kind and will last all month with simple watering. As a bonus, many of the arrangements are set in interesting silver or ceramic containers sourced from estate sales and member donations.”

The museum and bookstore will be open during the sale so visitors can view the 2025-2026 exhibit, “Storied Objects: Selections from the Museum Collection” and shop a large selection of local history books and research publications. “The exhibit,” said Hart, “is an eclectic sampling of artifacts along with information about the history they embody, the people and places they connect to, and the stories they tell. These vignettes provide glimpses into different topics and time periods in Lancaster’s past while also highlighting examples of the wide range of objects donated to the museum.”

The museum and bookstore are also open regular hours Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 10:00-4:00 through December 18. The research library is open by appointment. All sales and admission donations support the work of LVHS to preserve, respect, and share Lancaster County’s history and family genealogies.
