Virginia State Police report that two people died in a single vehicle crash on Friday evening.
Police say that a 2014 Ford Mustang ran off the road and struck a tree in the area of the 100 block of Light St. in Northumberland County. The vehicle then caught fire. The driver and only passenger succumbed to injuries at the scene.
Troopers are working to positively identify and notify the next of kin of the victims.
This crash remains under investigation.
