Virginia State Police report that there were at least two fatalities in a Wednesday afternoon accident in Essex County.
A Dodge pick up truck pulling a small trailer ran off the road on Northbound Route 17 near Occupacia Road in the Loretto area shortly after 2:30pm. The pick up overturned ejecting 3 passengers and entrapping the driver.
The driver and another passenger was air-lifted out and one passenger was transported by a rescue squad to a Fredericksburg hospital.
VDOT reported that Northbound 17 was closed and detoured through the area. It was open around 4:40pm.
State Police said charges are pending against the driver and more info will be forthcoming.
