New Orleans, La. — The University of Lynchburg men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams earned 27 all-region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Friday. Sam Llaneza also earned the south region track athlete of the year and director of men’s and women’s track & field and cross country Jim Sprecher was named the south region women’s coach of the year announced Tuesday.

Llaneza will represent the Hornets at the Division III NCAA outdoor track & field national championship beginning Thursday. He ran the ninth-best 800-meter race with a 1:49.62 and the sixth-best 1,500-meter race with a 3:45.18.

Sprecher saw his women’s team win its 13th conference championship with 24 women’s all-conference winners, the women’s rookie of the year, and was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s coach of the year.

Llaneza also earned a pair of all-region honors in the 800m and the 1,500m.

Chasen Hunt and Frank Csorba also earned two all-region honors each, both in the 1,500m and 5,000-meter run.

Bryce Davis earned all-region honors in the 10,000-meter after placing second in the conference championship meet.

Connor McCroy and Cooper Hurst placed first and second in the steeplechase at the ODAC championship, respectively, and both earned all-region honors in the event.

Tor Hotung-Davidsen will also run at the NCAA championship with Csorba and Llaneza. He was an all-region winner for the 880m.

Lynchburg’s 4×400-meter relay featuring Jacob Hodnett, Gabriel Kwayke, Zachary Jacobs, and Nekolas Raya rounded out the men’s all-region honors.

Lynchburg’s women’s team saw both relays earn all-region honors. Jessica CammarataMadelyn BoyceAllison Bobst, and Vuronika Barnes tallied 4x400m relay honors, and Barnes, Cammarata, Rylee Turner, and Aniya Seward secured 4×100-meter relay honors.

Seward earned two more all-region honors in the triple jump and 100-meter hurdles. She will compete in the NCAA championships in both events.

Betsy Mohnkern also tallied 100m-hurdles honors as well as the 400-meter hurdles.

Bobst claimed her second all-region accolade in the 400m hurdles and a third in the pole vault.

Kelsey Lagunas ran a 10:54.47 in the steeplechase for all-region honors.

Hailey Smith, the ODAC’s rookie of the year, was an all-region winner in the 800m.

Lauren Anderson won the pole vault at the ODAC championship and earned all-region honors.

Allison Dell and Sarah James claimed all-region honors in the 5k and 10k, respectively.

Logan Babbs claimed Lynchburg’s only throwing all-region honor in the shot put.

Barnes also claimed an all-region accolade in the 400-meter run.

Kacey Kelly rounded out the all-region honors with a triple jump nod and will compete at the NCAA championships.
