Bills aiming to set new ways to bet and new rules for one form of gaming are off to a mixed start in the 2026 General Assembly session.
A House of Delegates subcommittee gave a unanimous green light to a measure, House Bill 145, aimed at drawing a clear line between fantasy contests and sports betting, while setting taxes on fantasy contests for the first time.
But its state Senate counterpart did not recommend legalizing skill games in Senate Bill 661 or internet casino games in Senate Bill 118.
