Virginia’s legislators want a hefty raise — at least for whoever is sitting in the state Senate and House of Delegates after the 2027 election.
The House Appropriations Committee is proposing a base pay increase to $45,000 a year from the current $17,640 for House members and $18,000 for senators in its amendments to the state budget. The Senate Finance Committee suggests $50,000 would be better.
