RICHMOND, VA – Governor Glenn Youngkin today took final action on 50 pieces of legislation, signing 30 bills into law and vetoing 20 bills.

“Today I’m pleased to sign 30 bipartisan bills into law, and veto 20 bills which would undermine the progress we have made over the past two years to make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “On the first day of the legislative session, I urged the General Assembly to work together with me to unleash opportunity for all Virginians. As I continue to review the remaining legislation and spending proposals on my desk, I want to be very clear that we will keep Virginia moving forward not backward.”

The Governor signed 30 bills which included:

The Governor vetoed 20 bills to prevent the enactment of laws that would impose significant burdens on small businesses, limit statewide decision-making, and escalate tuition fees and expenses for hardworking Virginia families.

The Governor Vetoed 20 bills which included:

  • HB 212, MEI Project Approval Commission; board-level gender and diversity requirements
  • HB 333, Environmental Justice, Virginia Council on; meetings and staffing, appointment of members
  • HB 569, Employment discrimination; employee notification of federal and state statute of limitations
  • HB 571, Sexually explicit content; policies on parental notification of instructional material
  • HB 938, Unemployment insurance; benefit eligibility conditions; lockout exception to labor dispute disqualification
  • HB 990, Employer seeking wage or salary history of prospective employees; prohibited
  • HB 1167, English ivy; local prohibition on sale, civil penalty
  • HB 1177, Voter registration; list maintenance; data sharing; requiring membership in the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC)
  • HB 1178, Commonwealth of Virginia Innovation Partnership Authority; amends membership of board of directors
  • HB 1244, Restorative housing and isolated confinement; restrictions on use
  • HB 1467, Higher Education Institutions, Baccalaureate public; expands membership of board of visitors
