The jury trial of Amari Pollard, the sole suspect in last year’s Huguenot High School graduation shooting, opened on Monday.
Lawyers for the prosecution painted the victim, 18-year-old Shawn Jackson, as a beloved son who was gunned down after his high school graduation. Pollard’s defense lawyers portrayed their client as having been provoked and targeted by the victim and his associates before acting in his own self-defense.
