Kings Dominion will demolish the Anaconda roller coaster, which opened in 1991.
The move comes months after Kings Dominion’s former parent company, Cedar Fair L.P., merged with Six Flags Entertainment Corp.
In July, Kings Dominion announced plans to build a new roller coaster not far from Anaconda. Rapterra, a launched wing coaster, is expected to open in 2025 on the site of the former Volcano ride.
Kings Dominion turns 50 years old in 2025.
