ARLINGTON COUNTY — Senate Finance Chair Louise Lucas, D-Portsmouth, wants the state to use surplus revenues to provide some form of financial relief to working families, but she said Gov. Glenn Youngkin can forget about his budget proposal to cut police and jail funds to localities that do not turn jailed illegal immigrants over to federal officials.
Youngkin said Thursday that he wants to deny state supports for police and jails to localities that do not cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement when it seeks to deport criminals.
