Abill that would treat suppliers of fatal drug overdoses as murderers, one of the most controversial measures in recent General Assembly sessions, is coming back next year.
Under Senate Bill 746, selling hard drugs that turn out to be a fatal dose would be considered felony homicide — basically, accidentally causing death while engaged in a crime.
The legislation has been a priority for Gov. Glenn Youngkin, who was visibly infuriated with a committee that rejected the idea in 2023.
