The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office charged a North Carolina man with felony abduction and misdemeanor assault and battery following an incident at Great Wolf Lodge.
The department responded to a call that an attempted abduction and assault of a 7-year-old child occurred on Tuesday. The child’s family and Great Wolf Lodge staff told deputies that Travis Andrew Bright, 46, of Greenville, North Carolina, attempted to lure the child away from the pool.
When the child then attempted to walk away, Bright prevented the child from leaving, the sheriff’s office said. Following the incident, Bright left the area of the pool.
Deputies reviewed video from the Great Wolf Lodge and identified Bright — a guest at the resort — as a suspect, then located and arrested him.
Bright is currently incarcerated in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
