(Warsaw, VA) Northern Neck Electric Cooperative is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Director Ralph Edward Sutton on Sunday, March 23. Sutton has served the NNEC membership since 1998 and represented King George County. On behalf of the entire NNEC family, we extend our deepest condolences to the Sutton family.
As part of Sutton’s service on the board of directors for NNEC, he also served as secretary and treasurer from 2017 until 2021. He also served on the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives’ Awards Committee for several years.
In Sutton’s professional life, he was an accountant for more than 49 years, owned Ralph E. Sutton & Associates, LLC, an accounting firm in Fredericksburg, Va., and was a partner in a grain farm operation.
“For more than 26 years, Ralph brought his accomplished and gifted talents for accounting and financial stewardship in his service to NNEC’s members,” said Rusty Brown, chairman of the board of directors for NNEC. “Much of our success is owed to his leadership and his diligence. We will certainly miss him, and we are grateful to have known him and served with him.”
NNEC’s board of directors is elected by the members and governs the not-for-profit, member-owned utility.
