The leader of the Republican Party of Virginia, Sen. Mark Peake, announced Monday he is stepping down from his position as chairman of the party at the end of the year.
Peake’s announcement, after less than eight months in the job, comes weeks after Democrats swept all three statewide races and flipped 13 seats in the House of Delegates.
