UPDATE (March 24, 2025, 6:02 p.m.): Route 601 has reopened between Route 301 and the Barns at Mattaponi. Crews completed emergency repairs today. Detour has been lifted.
FREDERICKSBURG – Route 601 (Penola Road) in Caroline County is closed between Route 301 and the Barns at Mattaponi due to a drainage pipe failure.
A recommended detour is posted:
- Route 301
- Bowling Green Bypass
- Route 207
- Route 601 (Penola Road)
An emergency repair by Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will be underway starting Monday, March 24.
