FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in partnership with Lancaster County, Town of Kilmarnock and Northern Neck Planning District Commission, has scheduled a public information meeting to share improvements proposed by two transportation studies underway in Lancaster.
The in-person meeting will be held:
*Tuesday, Dec, 2, 2025
5-7 p.m.
Lancaster Elementary School
191 School Street
Kilmarnock, VA 22482
*In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on Dec. 3, 2025 at the same location and time.
One study evaluated Route 3 between Hawthorne Avenue and School Street in the Town of Kilmarnock. A second, separate study evaluated Route 200 between Old Saint Johns Road to Harris Road, southwest of the Kilmarnock town limits.
The purpose of both studies is to develop concepts for future funding applications. Draft concepts for potential future projects are now being presented for public comment before the study reports are finalized. These studies do not propose timelines for construction for any potential future improvements.
Both studies are part of VDOT’s Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program.
Community input received through online surveys in Spring 2025 helped the study teams identify existing issues along these study corridors and develop recommendations for potential improvements.
As part of the next phase of the study, the public is invited to comment on the proposed improvements.
Stop by the in-person public meeting Dec. 2 to review materials and offer comment.
Meeting materials and an online survey for these studies will be available starting Dec. 2 for comment through Tuesday, Dec. 16.
