Fredericksburg, Va. – Each year, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) awards $20,000 in scholarship funds to local students who are seeking to advance their career goals by attending a college or a career and technical school.

“REC’s scholarship program is one of the ways we directly empower the youth in the communities we serve,” said Brian Wolfe, Senior Public Relations Specialist. “It’s one of the best ways we can invest in our communities’ futures.”

The following local student each received a $2,500 scholarship:

Camden Jones, King William County – King William High School

The following local students received a $1,000 scholarship:

Bethany Bazemore, Louisa County – University of Virginia

Thomas Brennan, Spotsylvania County – Christopher Newport University

Karen Fleur, Spotsylvania County – Virginia Commonwealth University

Kaitlyn Foster, Louisa County – Louisa County High School

Maisen Jenkins, Spotsylvania County – Trinity Episcopal School

Sutton Marks, Hanover County – Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School

Andrew Rose, Louisa County – Southside Community College

Evan Williams, Hanover County – Hanover Center for Trades & Tech

Applications for the 2024 Community Scholarship are now open. To apply for each scholarship, the applicant’s parent or guardian must be a member-owner of REC, and the applicant must be planning to enroll in an accredited educational or training institution.
