Fredericksburg, Va.—The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) Director Election process is now open! If you receive your electricity from REC, you can now complete the Proxy Designation Form online or by returning the form when it arrives in the mail.

Three candidates, who are REC members just like you, will be elected to the Cooperative’s Board of Directors as part of the virtual Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 7.

“Every member has a crucial role in choosing the Cooperative’s Board of Directors,” said Casey Hollins, Managing Director—Communications and Public Relations. “You have the right to vote for representatives from all three regions, regardless of your location. Your participation is essential.”

In early July, the Proxy Designation Form will be delivered by U.S. Mail to all REC members. This form is the tool you will use to participate in the election. Members with a valid email on file with REC will also receive an email with instructions on how to access and designate their proxy online. In addition, member-owners can log in at their convenience to MyREC SmartHub for online Proxy Designation completion.

The deadline to participate is 5 p.m. on July 31.

REC is offering incentives to encourage members to vote early.

  • Designate and return your proxy form by July 10 to win 1 of 30 $250 cash prizes.
  • Designate and return your proxy form by July 24 to win 1 of 15 $100 cash prizes.
  • Designate and return your proxy form by July 31 to win 1 of 10 $50 cash prizes.

All members who have returned their proxy or registered for the meeting but did not win one of the other prizes will be entered to win additional prizes announced during the Annual Meeting.

If your preference is to participate in the virtual Annual Meeting, registration opens at 7 a.m. on Aug. 1 and closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 2. Only registered members will receive instructions to join the virtual Annual Meeting on Aug. 7 to cast their vote live.
