The dream of a Richmond casino appears to be dead.

The final nail, or nails, in the Richmond casino’s coffin came when Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed three bills into law that remove Richmond from the state’s list of eligible host cities and require a three-year cooldown period between failed casino referendums.

Also, late Friday Youngkin amended legislation effectively putting Petersburg on the casino fast track. The governor proposed eliminating the need for a second vote by the legislature in 2025 to approve Petersburg as a casino city.
