The Virginia League of Planned Parenthood is slated to construct a $6 million, 10,000-square-foot women’s facility in Richmond’s North Side – its third in the city.

The nonprofit organization received the final approval Monday night from Richmond City Council, who voted unanimously to allow the sale of Brook Hill School, at 4929 Chamberlayne Avenue, to the women’s health organization for $10.

The decision comes following an uptick in out-of-state abortion travel into Virginia, which has some of the most permissive abortion laws in the South following the repeal of Roe v. Wade.
