The Richmond region’s licensed medical marijuana provider is selling its local business for $110 million, the company announced this week.

The Cannabist Company Holdings Inc., which has the exclusive right to sell medical marijuana in the region, will sell its six retail locations and production facility to Curaleaf Holdings Inc. Based in Connecticut, Curaleaf is considered the world’s largest publicly traded cannabis company.

Marijuana is at a turning point in Virginia, as Democratic lawmakers are preparing to legalize the sale of recreational cannabis next year.
