FREDERICKSBURG – Above freezing temperatures and rain have helped with clearing roads today. Although most roads are in clear condition, drivers should travel with caution tonight into tomorrow.

Most primary roads, including Interstate 95, and high-volume secondary roads in the Fredericksburg area are in clear condition. Low-volume secondary roads and subdivision streets vary in clear to minor condition, with bare pavement visible on most roads, while others have partial snow coverage.

In the Northern Neck, primary roads are in clear condition except in King George County where a few major roads are in minor condition.

In the Middle Peninsula, all roads are clear, except in King William and Essex counties, where secondaries are in minor condition.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews in the Fredericksburg area will continue work overnight to plow and treat low-volume secondary roads and subdivision streets.

Shoveling a Driveway?

VDOT plow operators push snow off the roadway in smooth, continuous passes. It ends up in gutters and on road shoulders, sometimes blocking driveways. To make as many roads passable as quickly as possible, there is unfortunately no way to avoid this practice.

To avoid doing extra work, shovel snow from your driveway after a plow has passed. Shovel it to the right of your driveway as you face the road.
