FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has modified the use of flashing yellow arrow signals at the Route 17 and Crewe Road intersection in Gloucester County.
Due to heavy daytime traffic volumes on Route 17, VDOT has limited the hours that the flashing yellow arrow signal will appear for motorists turning left from Route 17 northbound onto Crewe Road. The traffic signal now displays only a green arrow signal for left turns between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. This means that Route 17 northbound travelers seeking to make a left turn onto Crewe Road must wait for a green arrow signal during these hours.
Overnight, the flashing yellow arrow signal will appear for Route 17 northbound traffic turning left onto Crewe Road between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. daily. A flashing yellow arrow signal allows drivers to turn left after yielding to oncoming traffic.
A message board will be posted at the intersection to alert drivers to the new limited hours for the flashing yellow arrow signals.
