UPDATE: Route 629 (Walkerton Road) in King and Queen County has reopened to traffic at the Walkerton Creek bridge. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews have completed emergency repairs to a bridge rail damaged in a vehicle crash on Wednesday, Feb. 12. The detour has been lifted.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 629 (Walkerton Road) in King and Queen County is closed at the bridge over Walkerton Creek for emergency repairs to fix damage caused by a vehicle crash Wednesday.
Crews will repair a section of bridge rail damaged in the crash.
Repair work is anticipated to be underway on Thursday, Feb. 13, and Friday, Feb. 14. Updates on the status of Route 629 will be available through 511Virginia.
Signs are posted to guide motorists along the following recommended detour route:
- Route 634 (Canterbury Road)
- Route 636 (Minter Lane)
- Route 633 (Rose Mount Road)
An average of 880 vehicles travel Walkerton Road daily, according to a VDOT traffic count.
