Stormy weather across Central Virginia prompted the National Weather Service to issue tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings for several counties and the Northern Neck area Wednesday afternoon.
According to Northumberland County Sheriff John A. Beachamp, calls came in around 4pm of damage from Owl Town Road near Bethany Church on Route 360, the Luttrellville area, and from Callao and the Lottsburg area. Damages resulted in down trees, power line poles that were broken and scattered power outages.
A home was damaged in the Callao area and a Lottsburg business received damage to its roof. Also structural damage occurred to a building at Quinton Oaks Golf Course.
Sheriff Beauchamp reported that one-person was treated for a minor injury. It was either straight-line winds or radar-indicated tornado activity.
