The General Assembly battle over skill games — the slot machine-like electronic devices that convenience store owners say have been a lifeline when the pandemic slashed shopping traffic — just got fiercer.
After a bipartisan group of rural and urban legislators proposed legalizing and taxing the devices, state Sen. Jeremy McPike, D-Prince William, filed a bill with tighter rules and more than double the proposed tax.
