Locals across the area reported feeling a light earthquake Friday afternoon, with people in Richmond and Henrico describing a quick, jarring shake rather than a sustained tremor.

Reports were uneven, with some residents in similar neighborhoods saying they noticed nothing.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured a shallow, 2.4-magnitude quake just before 6 p.m., with an epicenter about 7 miles south of Woodlake, just north of Lake Chesdin.
