Gov. Abigail Spanberger sent an unmistakable message to colleges and universities Tuesday with the appointment of former Virginia Military Institute Superintendent Cedric Wins and former University of Virginia Rector Robert Hardie to the Virginia Commission on Higher Education Board Appointments.
Spanberger, who replaced 27 members of the governing boards at VMI, UVa and George Mason University on her first day in office, is now turning the page again on higher education policy after four years of conservative political pressure from Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin and the administration of President Donald Trump.
