On July 1, some food vendors in Virginia will no longer be able to use polystyrene foam containers, also known as Styrofoam.

According to legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2021, the law applies to large food vendors in Virginia with 20 locations or more, including restaurants, grocery stores, food trucks and caterers.

Next year, on July 1, 2026, all other food vendors will need to comply.
