Each fall for the past few years, you may have spotted artists in Tappahannock with their easels set up on the street or in a field.
They were capturing local scenery in paint or pastel at Tappahannock Art Gallery’s Tidelands Plein Air Festival. This year, TAG wants to bring more artists into the plein air family, so they are expanding their educational programs to teach some of the skills needed to paint in nature. On March 28, 29, and 30, noted local plein air painter Cate Kauffman will lead a two-day introductory workshop on the skills and practices of plein air painting. The optional third day will be for plein air painting with your new skills. The workshop will take place at Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge at Cat Point Creek.
