The Tappahannock Artists Guild will be hosting 26 artists from around Virginia and the East Coast for the Tidelands Plein Air Festival.
This is the fifth time that TAG has hosted the festival, which celebrates the art of plein air painting. Artists create new pieces “en plein air” which means “outdoors.”
Beginning on Wednesday, October 2, you may see artists setting up their easels and painting in scenic locations around town. Stop and admire their work, and marvel at how they carry all their gear with them from place to place.
On Saturday, October 5, the Art on the Wall fundraiser will take place at St. Margaret’s School, where attendees can view and purchase the paintings created during the festival, meet the artists, and enjoy oysters, gumbo, and more prepared and served by Prue Davis and a squadron of volunteers.
On Sunday, October 6, paintings from the festival will be displayed at Studio 158, at 158 Prince Street, from 11 to 3 pm, allowing the general public to enjoy the work showcasing our beautiful region.
