Hungry Virginians will begin to see long-delayed food benefits arrive from the federal government Thursday, with more to come, now that Congress and President Donald Trump acted Wednesday night to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.

The Virginia Department of Social Services said Wednesday that those who already had received some help from an emergency food assistance program Gov. Glenn Youngkin established will get 65% of their monthly benefit for November on Thursday.
