Tappahannock, VA — VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital is proud to announce the expansion of patient services with the introduction of a specialized Wound and Ostomy Care program, designed to improve healing outcomes and provide expert care for complex conditions. The new program will operate out of the VCU Health Surgery Office, located in Pavilion A on the hospital campus. Dr. Rodrigo Roldan, a general surgeon with VCU Health Surgery at Tappahannock, will serve as the Medical Director of the Wound and Ostomy Care program.

“People with chronic wounds often face serious complications like infections, loss of mobility and a diminished quality of life,” explains Lacey Fletcher, BSN, CWON, a certified wound nurse leading the program in Tappahannock. “Without expert care, what may start as a small wound can quickly become a life-altering condition. Our goal is to bring specialized wound and ostomy care close to home so patients get the advanced care they need to heal and thrive.”

Fletcher has eight years of clinical nursing experience and advanced specialty training in wound, ostomy and continence care. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bon Secours College of Nursing and completed the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse Certification Program at Rutgers University. She brings over a year and a half of focused specialty experience at VCU Health Medical Center to patients in Tappahannock. Fletcher will work under the direction of Dr. Roldan.

“We aim to deliver evidence-based wound and ostomy care that enhances patient outcomes, prevents pressure injuries and improves overall quality of life,” explains Dr. Roldan. “We’re excited to bring this much-needed service to the Tappahannock community.”
