Since Monday afternoon, at least four Richmond-area hospitals have asked ambulances to go elsewhere, an act known as diversion. Some have reopened, but Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center, one of the largest hospitals in the state, on Wednesday continued asking most patients to find other destinations.
