Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia say they have stopped performing medical care related to gender transition for children under 19 years old, complying with a directive from Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares and an executive order from President Donald Trump.
Senate Democrats released a statement Friday condemning Miyares’ directive and stating that Miyares and Gov. Glenn Youngkin “are taking orders from MAGA extremists.” Senate Democrats also note that Virginia law already requires parental consent for gender-affirming care.
