FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) invites the public to share their feedback on existing travel conditions along Route 30 in King William County and the Town of West Point as part of a transportation study.

This STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study will assess potential safety and operational improvements along Route 30 (King William Avenue) corridor from Mount Olive Cohoke Road to Route 33.

The purpose is to identify safety, congestion, access management, and bicycle/pedestrian accommodation needs within the study area.

Project partners include King William County and the Town of West Point.

Comments received at this stage will help determine which locations along Route 30 in the study area should be reviewed for potential improvements.

Take an online survey to submit comments: https://publicinput.com/route30study

The online survey will be open to accept comments through April 10, 2025.

Through the STARS program, VDOT planners and engineers work with local planners and stakeholders to address critical safety and traffic congestion challenges at key locations throughout Virginia.

Draft recommendations for potential projects along Route 30 in King William County and the Town of West Point will be presented to the public in summer 2025. The public will be able to comment on the draft recommendations before the plan is finalized.

The study will not set construction dates for any improvements but will develop proposed improvements that localities can pursue for funding.

For individuals who prefer to share comments in writing or by email, comments may be sent to Casandra Lord, VDOT Study Manager, 87 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405, or emailed to fred.comments@vdot.virginia.gov. Please reference “Route 30 Study in King William” in the email subject line.

Print copies of the online survey are available to be mailed to the public. To request a mailed copy of the survey, please contact the project manager at the contact information listed above or by phone at (804) 786-2264.
