Teachers, state employees and state-supported local employees would receive raises of 3% in each year of the new two-year budget under an agreement that General Assembly budget negotiators unveiled on Thursday.
The revised assembly budget for the current fiscal year does not include a mechanism to finance a $2 billion professional sports and entertainment district in Alexandria, an exclusion that Gov. Glenn Youngkin called a “colossal mistake.”
Youngkin vowed to fight on for the project, which he said offers a huge economic development opportunity for the state and Alexandria.
