For a third consecutive year, Virginia lawmakers have approved measures to legalize the sale of recreational cannabis. This time, they’re optimistic the bills will become reality.
Both chambers of the General Assembly passed bills Tuesday that would create a legal marketplace for marijuana.
Now, lawmakers have to iron out the differences between their bills before sending a final version to Gov. Abigail Spanberger, who said she supports legal cannabis. Former Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed the measure each of the past two years.
