Aproposal to increase Virginia’s minimum wage, the first bill filed in each chamber this session, advanced through a Senate committee Monday.
The bill’s House of Delegates counterpart has yet to be reviewed, but both bills may fare well as Democrats now control both chambers after the November elections.
Thirty states have adopted their own minimum wages to exceed the $7.25 per hour rate that is a mandatory minimum required by federal law.
