RICHMOND – In the past year, Virginia State Police troopers, pilots, and personnel have rescued patients from on top of a flooded hospital, injured hikers from rocky paths and mountains, and drivers from water-filled storm retention ponds.  Troopers have also kept toddlers from running into traffic from their daycares.   They have also stayed with vehicles needing service to make sure people remained safe and provided medical care to Virginians in need.

However, up until this point, Virginians, and people travelling through Virginia, did not have a central location they could go to offer thanks to a trooper “rising above.” Now, it is as simple as going to the Virginia State Police website (vsp.virginia.gov).

Virginia State Police has now started the “Thank a Trooper” program on the main banner of the VSP website.  By clicking the yellow button in the right corner titled “Thank a Trooper,” you will be able to leave a short message thanking a member of Virginia State Police for service they provided.  You will need to provide a response for both name and email address.

The program is based on a similar program in Kentucky.

Compliments will be shared with the individual trooper, Virginia State Police leadership, and some will be placed on Virginia State Police’s social media channels.
