The Virginia Board of Education is doing away with the state’s current school rating model and is poised to replace it with a system that will publicly rank each Virginia school in a system with four performance categories: distinguished, on track, off track and needs intensive support.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin made revamping the state’s school accreditation system a top priority for his administration. Now, 89% of schools are fully accredited and 11% are accredited with conditions — none are unaccredited.
