Warsaw, Va. — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred Tuesday, February 3, 2026, on Route 360 (Richmond Road) in the town of Warsaw.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., a pedestrian, identified as Arthur A. Day, 58, of Warsaw, Va., was crossing Route 360 approximately 129 feet west of Campus Drive when multiple vehicles were traveling eastbound. Preliminary investigation indicates that the first vehicle swerved to avoid the pedestrian; however, a second vehicle struck Mr. Day.
The striking vehicle, described by witnesses as a black or dark-colored SUV, fled the scene eastbound on Route 360. No license plate information was obtained.
Mr. Day was transported to VCU Tappahannock, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The vehicle and driver involved remain unidentified. This crash remains under active investigation.
