Waynesboro – This summer, the Wildlife Center of Virginia is hitting the road on a library tour! Throughout June and July, the Center’s outreach team will visit 22 public libraries across the Commonwealth, bringing their popular wildlife-themed programs to communities from Northern Virginia to the Eastern Shore and Central Virginia.
These engaging and educational programs will feature the Wildlife Center’s live animal ambassadors—non-releasable wild animals that now serve as educational representatives of their species. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet these animals up close, hear their unique rescue stories, and learn simple ways to help protect native wildlife.
“Library programs are one of our favorite ways to connect with families and young learners across Virginia,” said Alison Meredith, Outreach Coordinator at the Wildlife Center of Virginia. “It’s so fun to see the kids’ faces light up when they meet our animal ambassadors and feel inspired to protect our wildlife.”
All programs are free, open to the public, and designed for children ages 5 and older, though wildlife lovers of all ages are encouraged to attend. Whether you’re a curious kid, a lifelong learner, or simply someone who appreciates the natural world, these events offer a fun and inspiring way to connect with Virginia’s wild neighbors. Certain libraries require advanced registration for attendees, so please be sure to check the individual listings for full details.
