Gov. Glenn Youngkin is showing no signs of retreat as he presses General Assembly budget negotiators to restore his plan for cutting income tax rates while raising state sales tax revenues and cut back on additional spending on K-12 education that he considers unnecessary.
On Friday, Youngkin also sought to overcome Senate opposition to his proposal for a $2 billion professional sports and entertainment district in Alexandria. It looms as the all-or-nothing centerpiece of a potential grand bargain on Democratic priorities that the Republican governor otherwise might veto.
