Fixing gaps in Virginia’s child welfare system, where deaths of children who already were involved with social services is a continuing issue, will be a priority in the months ahead, Gov. Glenn Youngkin said Tuesday.
A Richmond Times-Dispatch report detailed gaps in the child welfare system, which include low-quality assessments of children at risk of abuse or neglect and failure to provide services to many assessed to be at high or very high risk.
