Steve Ford, a well-established leader in Virginia health care policy, will lead the state’s Medicaid program under Gov. Abigail Spanberger, who is filling out her administration for the next four years.
In appointing Ford as director of the Department of Medical Assistance Services, Spanberger is relying on his experience at a pivotal time for the state’s $24 billion Medicaid program, which serves nearly 2 million Virginians who are poor, elderly or disabled.
