A Democrat-led Senate panel on Tuesday voted down Republican efforts to scale back early voting and make additional requirements for voting.
Peake’s Senate Bill 42 would have reduced Virginia’s early voting period from 45 days to three weeks. As Virginia has state or local elections every year, Peake said he is concerned for the workload on local registrars and election staff around the state.
