FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Route 360 travelers will encounter brief overnight delays crossing the Rappahannock River between Richmond County and the Town of Tappahannock during several evenings this week due to a scheduled bridge inspection.

The inspection of the Downing Bridge will be underway between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. on the evenings of Wednesday, Sept. 18, and Thursday, Sept. 19, ending early Friday, Sept. 20.

Route 360 will be reduced to a single lane on the bridge. Automated flagging devices will direct traffic through the work zone. Flagging crew members operate the devices, which can be rapidly adjusted to respond to congestion or incidents on the bridge.

Lane closures have been scheduled weather permitting. If inspection work is canceled for Sept. 18-20, additional dates for lane closures will be scheduled and announced.

Motorists can find updated information on lane closures and traffic conditions for this Downing Bridge work zone on 511Virginia.
