The state health department stands to lose more than $200 million and 500 employees after the federal government said it would cut funding for projects related to COVID-19.
The cuts are part of an initiative by President Donald Trump’s administration to reduce government spending on health research at universities, probationary employees across departments and at hospitals operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
